Gator Grip Installation Tips and Tricks
1.) Black will shrink up to 1/4" on both length and width. All other colors will not shrink.
Cut material approximately 1/4" oversize to account for material shrinkage
(All other colors do not shrink)
2.) Cut Gator Grip from the backside. Use a piece of plywood as a cutting
surface.
3.) Use an xacto or utility knife. Measure twice, cut once. Use a new blade it will make for the cleanest cut edge.
4.) Make sure area for application is clean and smooth.
5.) If applying to textured area, cut material oversized to get to the smooth area.
Otherwise water could get up underneath and breakdown the sticky backing.
6.) Peel backing off from a cut edge. Do not peel off from the extra past the
material
7.) If covering a large swim deck (measure twice before ordering)
Gator Grip comes in 5' lengths and will not cover the whole width of most platforms
Your options:
a.) Butt two pieces together to form a seam. (the seam gets lost in the pattern)
b.) Create sections to make up the difference in width
c.) Splice in another color to create a design. Contact me I may have scraps, I'll float you.
8.) One customer has reported running a bead of silicone around the perimeter of
Gator Grip to seal in the edge as well as create a smooth transition between the
surface and Gator Grip. I haven't tried this myself.
